The biggest questions parents ask about newborn photo shoots - Fairfield, CT

I understand that COVID-19 has made us very concerned and I know how important it is to take precautions and protect our families. However, I can tell you with all honesty, that newborn photo shoots have been put into question by many parents. Is it worth the risk? To do or not to do? I have listed here the most frequently asked questions by people who are interested in having a photo shoot done.

1. What are you doing to keep your studio safe from Coronavirus?

This is a tricky question to answer, because, unfortunately, no one is completely safe from the virus. However, what I can make sure of is that I’ll be wearing a mask during all shoots and, unfortunately, only parents and children will be allowed to participate in newborn photo shoots. The fewer people in the room, the better and safer for everyone.

In addition to that, everything is thoroughly cleaned before and after each client enters my studio, including all props & blankets.

2. Do I need to bring clothes and props for the baby?

No. I have a wide variety of these items in my studio and everything will be set up according to your wishes, as well as following my style of photography. That's why I always recommend that you get to know the photographer’s style and see if it matches the style you’re going for so that you don't get disappointed afterwards.

3. When is the best time to do it?

I recommend that photo shoots take up about 5 to 10 days. However, the ideal limit would be up to 15 days. This time is based on my experience of over 10 years in this business.

4. When should I book the photo shoot?

Ideally, it should be scheduled as soon as possible, so that I can ensure I have a date available within the ideal period. Moreover, I have a monthly limit of photo shoots so if you wait too long to book the shoot, I may not be available. Having done that, I can ensure that the deadlines I set to the client for delivering my work are met.

5. Why do you charge so much? There are several photographers in Connecticut who charge much less.

My price table is based on several factors. I have a space (studio) that I set up exclusively for this purpose and I have to take on all the expenses that come with it. I am also licensed to work and have to pay insurance, to ensure my safety and that of my clients.

Our props, backdrops and clothes are a big investment. I am always renovating and buying new things, which make the photo shoots even more special. I work with the best national and international retailers because I want to have the most modern props with the best quality on the market.

I photograph emotions and that is the main focus of my work. As such, I seek to showcase the beauty of this unique moment in the lives of the families I work with.

Photography has the power to eternalize memories and my goal is to create a memorable work of art as well as provide an incredible experience during the whole process, ranging from our very first contact to the delivery of the completed work.

On top of all that, I am also studying and taking classes to ensure that the babies are safe throughout the process.

6. Can you remove the scratches on the baby's skin?

Of course! I will photoshop each of the baby's photos. Each photo I take is treated as a piece of art and I spend an average of 20 minutes editing each one. Why so long? Because baby skin is often very dry, which needs to be corrected in the picture, and the coloring of their skin also needs a detailed treatment.
