Tips for choosing the best clothes for a family photo shoot - Fairfield County Photographer

This must be one of my customers' biggest concerns! In fact, this can be as difficult a task as finding a photographer that suits what you're looking for. After all, it's your family's memories we are talking about, and they deserve a beautiful frame or an album so they can be remembered forever.

1.     Clothes must be coordinated, but not necessarily in the same color. Choose a color palette and make sure your clothes are following the palette;

2.     Pay attention to your home decor. It may seem weird to consider this, but your photo shoot has everything to do with your decor. Since you’re planning to hang your photos on the walls of your living room or around your house, you should take that into consideration when planning your photos;

3.     Colors – I always recommend choosing clothes colors in lighter and pastel shades. I believe the outfit is an essential part of the photo, but it shouldn’t take one’s attention away from the people in it when we look at the final product.

4.     Clothing store collection – This is a good alternative, especially if you have more kids. You can go to a store and pick out a clothes collection. The colors will complement each other and blend in well. These stores have designers and specialists that make sure the best options are available to customers, which makes your life a lot easier and saves you a lot of time.

5.     Accessories – Necklaces, ties, scarves or even hats can be easily added to the outfits, as long as they follow the color palette you’ve chosen.

6.     Big names or designs – This is one of the biggest mistakes people make when choosing clothes. Don't go for big logos or designs. This is the one that bothers me the most. You don’t want people to look at your photo and try to read what's written on your shirt. I want all of the attention to be centered on you and your family.

I hope this has been helpful! If you have any other questions, just let me know.
