More than any other question, clients always ask what they should wear to their family session. Coordinating your outfits can be challenging, but it doesn’t have to be! This post covers tons of tips to help you with styling.

Mostly important is choosing an outfit that makes you feel beautiful and comfortable.

When choosing an outfit, I normally advise my clients to stick to neutrals and light colors (peach, light green, dusty blues, bege..). Those colors will help the photos remain timeless.

Start with one person (normally mom or daughter) since women’s clothing tends to have more colors and prints.

We want colors that generally complement each other. The day of all white shirts and khaki pants are long past! We want colors that generally complement each other.

Patterns can definitely look great, but if you’re looking for the perfect match and no mistake family combination, go with solids. To keep things from looking boring, include textures (think chunky knits, tulle, lace, etc).

I love flowing dresses and they photograph beautifully.

Skirts also look amazing for moms. Babies and toddlers with rompers are also very cute.
